On April 24, 2009, Al Gore testified to Congress that the entire Arctic ice cap may totally disappear in as little as five years if nothing is done to curb emissions of greenhouse gas pollution. In December 2008, Al Gore warned a German audience that "the entire North Polarized cap will disappear in 5 years." On July 17, 2008, Al Gore warned we would have no north polar ice cap in 5 years. Al Gore made the same 5 year prediction in January 2008. On December 13, 2007, in Bali, Indonesia, Al Gore warned the UN global warming enthusiasts that the northern ice cap was melting and would disappear in 5 years. Three days earlier, on December 10, 2007, Al Gore warned the Nobel Peace Prize audience in Oslo, Norway, that the north polar ice cap would disappear in 7 years. As you can see, the situation worsened on Al Gore's flight from Norway to Indonesia. Maybe it was the fumes from his plane?
According to Al Gore, the North Pole will be around for around another three and a half years before it melts away.

Al Gore even showed maps of his North Pole without ice like this one
during a lecture in April 2008.
This is just one example of the
over-the-top fear-mongering that has made Al Gore an international
hero. And, he's not just good at it- he's great at it.
Never mind the
fact that sea ice levels ended 2008 at levels seen 29 years ago. Never
mind that sea ice is growing at its fastest pace on record. Never mind
the fact that Alaska sea glaciers are advancing for the first time in
250 years. Never mind the fact that Greenland's glaciers are
stabilizing. Facts don't seem to matter. So far Al Gore has won an
Oscar, a Grammy and a Nobel Peace Prize for promoting man-caused
global warming. It's been a thrilling 8 years for Al since he left
office.
But, Al Gore has not only been rewarded in hardware. He's
also been rewarded handsomely for his efforts.
The blog Pro Patria discovered
that while Al Gore was scaring the daylights out of young children, he
was making millions from his new green career. According to public
disclosure information, Gore was worth somewhere between $1 million and
$2 million in 2000 and today is worth somewhere in the neighborhood of
$100 million.
Not a bad haul. Not bad at all. In fact Gore's financial
gains are so impressive that they have come under scrutiny.
On April
24, 2009, Al Gore testified before Congress. During his testimony, Rep.
Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) challenged Al Gore's motives for supporting
climate change legislation. The Tennessee congresswoman asked Gore if he stood
to benefit financially from cap-and-trade legislation, which would
force companies to reduce carbon emissions. Blackburn noted Gore's role
as partner in Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers, a venture capital
firm that invests in technology to address global warming. Companies
would likely turn to the kinds of technologies Kleiner Perkins helps
develop if cap and trade were passed. Al Gore responded:
I believe that the transition to a green economy is good for our
economy and good for all of us. And I have invested in it... But every
penny that I have made, I have put right into a non-profit, the
Alliance for Climate Protection, to spread awareness about why we have
to take on this challenge. And Congresswoman, if you're, if you believe
the reason I have been working on this issue for 30 years is because of
greed, you don't know me. ... Every penny that I have made has gone to
it. Every penny from the movie, from the book, from any investments in
renewable energy. I've been willing to put my money where my mouth is."
Well, that wasn't true.
Again, Pro Patria reported on Al Gore's Alliance for Climate Protection:
Not only does Al Gore chair this organization, he also donates to these
guys and gets to deduct the donations from his taxes. So when he
donated his Nobel Prize money (wasn’t that nice of him?) he was
actually getting not only a tax write off, but the money went right
back into his own organization!
Al Gore is the founder and chairman of Alliance for Climate Protection.
You likely know the organization through its branch Repower America.
This group has bombarded the airwaves with "We Can Solve It" ads that
are pushing for cap and trade legislation.
But, that's not all.
Al
Gore also invested $35 million of his own money in various for-profit
endeavors according to a March 2008 Bloomberg article. Green Hell Blog
reported that Gore put $35 million in hedge funds and other private
partnerships. Gore invested the money with Capricorn Investment Group
LLC, a Palo Alto, California, firm that selects the private funds for
clients and invests in makers of environmentally friendly products.
Not only that, but Gore is a partner in Kleiner Perkins. In February
2008, Fortune Magazine reported that Al Gore joined his old pal John
Doerr as an active, hands-on partner at Kleiner Perkins, Silicon
Valley's preeminent venture firm. Here it was reported that more than a
third of Kleiner's latest fund, which was raised in 2006 and totals
$600 million, will be invested in technologies that aim to reduce
emissions of carbon dioxide. This is obviously a company that will
make millions if cap and trade legislation is passed.
Al Gore is the
international leader in global warming fear-mongering. He donates his
speaking fees to his own global warming organization. His organization
pushes for cap and trade legislation to be passed in its television and
radio ads. He also invests heavily in companies that will benefit
tremendously if cap and trade legislation is passed.
Al Gore lied to
Congress.
