How eager is President Obama to spend tax payer money to "spread the wealth?" So eager that stimulus checks are being sent out to people who died more than forty years ago.
Fifty-two million stimulus checks will be sent out by the Social Security Administration by June, with SS admitting that at least 8,000 will be sent out to citizens who have long since passed.
WBAL first reported on a man in Ann Arundel County who received a $250 stimulus check made out to his dead mother:
The woman's son, 83-year-old James Hagner, said he got the surprise when he checked his mailbox late last week.
"It shocked me and I laughed all at the same time," Hagner said. "I don't even expect to get one my own self, and I get one for my mother for 43 years ago?"
His mother, Rose, died on Memorial Day in 1967.
Then MYFOXNY.COM reported on a woman who received a check made out to her dead father who wasn't ever even in the Social Security system:
Antoniette Santopadre of Valley Stream was expecting a $250 stimulus check. But when her son finally opened it, they saw that the check was made out to her father, Romolo Romonini, who died in Italy 34 years ago. He'd been a U.S. citizen when he left for Italy in 1933, but only returned to the United States for a seven-month visit in 1969.
Just another problem of passing an almost $1 trillion stimulus bill - the government is too incompetent and inefficient to dole the money out properly. In the race to "stimulate," there is not enough time to weigh need and correct errors so some needy people will end up being passed over while money is wasted on the dead.
I know dead people are valued voters in Obama's hometown of Chicago, but the United States cannot afford to be mailing them stimulus checks.
